The Law Society has learned of a new twist to the "bad cheque" scam. In this phony debt collection, the debt is purportedly created by the breach of an equipment lease. The email you receive asks for your help regarding a lease matter, and is from "Kiyoshi Yukio" or "Nan Zhang" of "NPI Lease Company Limited." "Nan Zhang" also references "Shoji Equipment Leasing Company Ltd."

In all of these scams, particulars such as the names and email addresses the fraudsters use constantly change. Learn how to protect yourself. Read The bad cheque scam: How to avoid getting caught.
